What is givit.me
givit.me is a classified ads site. It's a place to find something you may need or want. You search for items based on your location and the items that are closest to you show up first. All too often perfectly good items get thrown in the trash as they are replaced. This is where givit.me comes in. To list your item, simply take a picture, put in a title and short description, and watch it disappear. You, and of course we here at givit.me, will have a warm fuzzy feeling that your trash is another person's treasure, and won't end up in a landfill.
We pride ourselves on the fact that givit.me will have an extremely positive environmental impact. Not only will the environment benefit, but your pockets will as well!
How does it work?
givit.me uses the latest cutting edge technology to find your location and show you items based on their proximity. If you are giving away an item, we will plot your item on our map, and other users will be able to search for it. You may list an item as public or private, free or at a cost, and supply a photo or two of the item to show its condition.
Public and Private?
Public items are simple to put on the site. They are in a location that, if someone were to pick it up, they would not get arrested for trespassing or breaking and entering! The item will be out on the sidewalk, or at a well known public location like a school or park. If you find an item, it doesn't even have to be yours to put it on the site! If you are not in need of the thing you just found, just use your cell phone to put it on the site, we will let everyone know where it is!
Free or at a cost
We do not process payments at givit.me. If you list your item with a cost, we have full faith you and the new owner of your shiny old thing will be required to handle the transaction with honesty and integrity.
